Recurring Pattern Record

Recurring Pattern records may be useful for items that have sparse historical data (for example, a new seasonal item). Typically, you would use comparables or spread curves in this situation, but there may be times when you need to create a quick, ad-hoc record with a seasonal pattern.

You can find an existing item with the pattern you want and replicate that pattern in a Recurring Pattern record. You can also use a Recurring Pattern record as an adjustment in other records. You would typically add it as a Multiply, Adjust, or Regression adjustment type.

To configure a Recurring Pattern record

1. In the Recurring Pattern section, in the Pattern Type list, select one of the following:

Recurring Pattern Setup Options

Option	Description
Day of week	Use day of week or day of month if you are doing a daily forecast.
Day of month	Use day of week or day of month if you are doing a daily forecast.
Month of year	Use month of year if you are doing a monthly forecast. This option lets you pull out any seasonal pattern. You can create multiple Recurring Pattern records to use as a library of resources (for Christmas or Spring, for example).
2. In the Value table, type the values you want to create the pattern and click Refresh.
3. In the upper-right of the screen, click OK.
4. To save your changes to the database, on the menu, click Save All Changes.
