Introduction¶
The Interactive Entries View (IEV) report allows the Consolidator user to analyse the consolidated data, detail them for the different dimensions, with the possibility of going back to the original data and the detail of the adjustments.
Data navigation and analysis are eased by filtering functions, selection of data granularity and the possibility of grouping dimensions and displaying subtotals.
Tabs on the page
Please find below the most important fields.
| Element | Description |
|---|---|
| Filters | allow you to pick the portion of data to be displayed. Very useful for 'targeted' data surveys. The use of filters can have a positive effect on the performance of the report and makes it easier to navigate the data. It is also possible to select dimensional elements through the selection of hierarchical nodes. Selecting the node always deploys the list of elements. |
| Columns | allow you to select and sort in the results grid the dimensions to be displayed and the ascending or descending order of the elements contained in each column. IMPORTANT: Activating a dimension means not only seeing it 'in rows', but it means disaggregating the data and displaying more rows for more detailed information. |
| Groupings | allow you to identify the dimensions whose elements will be displayed in homogeneous groups divided by a separating line. The visualisation facilitates navigation and understanding of the data, while the possibility of displaying subtotals on the amounts provides useful aggregate information for data analysis. |
Presets¶
The user has the option of setting up and saving configurations for launching the report, which can then be reused for subsequent accesses.
The configurations that can be saved are those defined in the tabs:
- Filters
- All Columns
Groupings
Thus the following are not included:
- Consolidation area
- Segment
Presets are very useful to speed up report set-up time and to achieve better performance.
Filtering data from the results grid¶
From the results grid by right-clicking the mouse, it is possible to filter the data in two ways: Filter by size: opens the filter panel and highlights the size of the cell selected in the grid, Filter by cell: opens the filter panel and highlights the size of the cell selected in the grid, automatically filling in the filter field with the value selected in the grid. Note: It is not possible to filter from a multi-selection of cells.
Exporting data to Excel¶
The report provides an export for analysis on Excel. By clicking on the appropriate icon, records are exported to an Excel spreadsheet. The export is not a mere transposition of the displayed records as the data are queried again in conjunction with the export. This is why the system signals if you launch the export without having pressed the 'Apply' button after editing the filters. If the number of exported records is too high, the system prevents export.
Accessing the detail of a journal¶
The report provides an export for analysis on Excel. By clicking on the appropriate icon, records are exported to an Excel spreadsheet. The export is not a mere transposition of the displayed records as the data are queried again in conjunction with the export. This is why the system signals if you launch the export without having pressed the 'Apply' button after editing the filters. If the number of exported records is too high, the system prevents export.
Reading data from the original scenario¶
The report is able to read and display data from the original scenario. Simply activate the dimensions 'Entity journal currency amount' and 'Entity journal currency'. Additional columns show the currency and amounts on the original scenario, respectively.
Analysing data based on Segment Information¶
By activating the Segment option, the displayed data are shown as if the Entities selected in the filters belonged to a segment of the group. In other words, data belonging to consolidation adjustments between Entities outside the selection and also those between an Entity in the selection and an Entity outside the selection are excluded. The Segment option shall be used in the presence of Entity filters that return at least two Entities but not all Entities in the group.
Achieving better performance¶
Broadly speaking, the time is extended if:
-
the number of records is substantial
-
Filter the report by the data section of interest
- Reduce the granularity of data by deselecting columns whose analysis is not essential
- the query is also launched on the original scenarios
- If you are not interested in the data on the original scenario, deactivate the columns "Entity journal currency amount" and "Entity journal currency".
- multiple changes are made to the report configuration
When changes are made to the Columns and Subtotals tabs, the report automatically starts updating the results in the grid. The data query starts after one second to allow for different configuration changes. The report may experience high response times.
Note: we recommend using Presets to optimise performance and the browsing experience.
Other information¶
The report cannot be launched on historical period scenarios. The user name and user date are not included in the report because they are in many cases incompatible with the data displayed. Example in the case of displaying both original data and consolidated data, or in the case where a split of the data by counterpart is requested. All possible details, including user name and user date, are instead available when accessing the detail of an Entity or Consolidation journal. Origins are those of the consolidation scenario. For example, the origins 'INPUT_WEB', 'INPUT_DEFORM' become 'INPUT' The filter on the Adjustment Number is not available.
