Copy consolidation on original
When to use the copy function¶
It is useful to use the copy function in the following situations:
- When you want to copy a sub-holding’s consolidation from the consolidation scenario to the original of a fictitious entity representing that sub-consolidate. This allows you not to consolidate all entities together.
- When you want to change the unit of measurement of a processed consolidation. In fact, the result of the consolidation can be copied onto a fictitious entity or a fictitious scenario using a specific coefficient and then running balancing on the original scenario.
How data are copied¶
Before copying data, the system deletes any original gross amounts and IC amounts, as applicable, from the target scenario/period/entity/category. IC amounts are only deleted if the Keep CTP option has been selected. Deletion takes place according to the value entered in the Deletion Policy field.
When performing the copy, the system defines the gross amounts and intercompany entries. To do this, it reads the consolidated data tables, filtering on the Consolidable amount type and adds those data under the same Scenario, Period, Account, Custom dimension 1, ... 5, CTP Entity and CTP Custom dimension 2.
Currency and amounts¶
The currency of the copied data is the currency indicated for the entity in the target data collection process. The copied data amounts are obtained according to the following rules:
| When... | Then the system... |
|---|---|
| The account Conversion type is None | copies the account. |
| the source declaring entity currency is different from that of the target | copies the account amount, converts it at the final FX rate for the target currency and multiplies it by the coefficient indicated in the run window. |
| both values are the same | - copies the account amount and multiplies it by the coefficient indicated in the run window. |
For intercompany entries, the system defines the Invoice Currency and Document currency amount as follows:
- With the values of the corresponding fields on the source data, if the source data are consolidated amounts or consolidated rows of entity journals.
- With the journal currency and the amount expressed in the journal currency, if the source data are consolidated rows of consolidation journals.
All copied data is marked with COPY_CONSOLIDATED.
Copy IC data onto entities of the sub-consolidate¶
Selecting the Copy IC to entities on the sub-consolidate field has the following effects:
- The matching cockpit, which only works on the original category, is not affected by these intercompany operations.
- The declared intercompany operations to entities of the sub-consolidate are cloned and written off. This prevents capacity problems for entities that have declared intercompany operations to entities of the sub-consolidate.
- Eliminations, which function on the basis of the global consolidation scenario, are run with the system reading the sum of the original category and the IC category.
