Editing and deleting an object

Sequence of procedures for modifying an object

The following procedures describe how to edit and delete an object in a Tagetik document

  1. Modifying a Checkbox or Free Text
  2. Modifying a Dropdown
  3. Modifying an Attribute Dimension

  5. Modifying a table or chart
  6. Deleting an object

Modifying Checkbox or Free Text objects

Word Add-in > CCH® Tagetik Disclosure ribbon bar > Objects > Edit

  1. Select a Checkbox or Free Text object in the document
  2. Click Edit: this opens the Edit Object tab from where you can:
  3. Click Delete to delete the Checkbox or Free Text object from the document
  4. Change the name
  5. or edit the additional information
  6. Click Save to save the changes just made 'Edit object completed'

Modifying a Dropdown Object

Word Add-in > CCH® Tagetik Disclosure ribbon bar > Objects > Edit

  1. Select a dropdown object in the document
  2. Click on Edit: the Edit Object tab opens:
  3. Click the Delete button to delete the dropdown object from the document
  4. Change the name
  5. or edit the additional information
  6. Click Save to save the changes just made for General information only
  7. Click on the Source Tab to edit the Name and Value fields or delete a row by selecting the bin
  8. or click Add Item to add a new row
  9. Insert name and value in the mandatory fields
  10. Click Save to save the changes made to the source data as well

Edit an Attribute Dimension object

Word Add-in > CCH® Tagetik Disclosure ribbon bar > Objects > Edit

  1. Select an Attribute Dimension object on the document
  2. Click Edit: the Edit AttributeDim tab opens where you can:
  3. Click Delete to delete the Attribute Dimension object from the document
  4. Click on the Update enabled button to update the data where server-side changes have been made
  5. Change the name
  6. or edit the additional information
  7. Click Save to save the changes just made for General information only
  8. Click on the Source Tab to display the source fields filled in
  9. Click on Application to select another database if the user has other associated DBs
  10. Click on Dimension
  11. Select another dimension from the List shown by the system other than the one chosen previously
  12. Click on the Dimension field just added by the system
  13. Choose an item from the hierarchy or Flat list eg. Entity - New York or more than one element
  14. Click the Attribute Dropdown
  15. Select another attribute from the list displayed by the system
  16. Click the Save button to save the changes made for the Source Tab as well

Note if the user has added or wants to add a Currency dimension and selects the following Attributes from thedropdown Attribute → Average Fx rate - Final FX rate and Period FX rate the system adds Scenario & Period as mandatory dimensions to be filled in/edited to finalise the object entry.

Modifying an amount object

Word Add-in > CCH® Tagetik Disclosure ribbon bar > Objects > Edit

  1. Select an Amount object on the document
  2. Click on Edit: the Edit Amount tab pops up where you can:
  3. Click Delete to remove the Amount object from the document
  4. Click on the Update enabled button to update the data where server-side changes have been made
  5. Change the name
  6. or edit the additional information
  7. Click Save to save the changes just made for General information only
  8. Click on the Source Tab to display the source fields filled in

In the case of an amount added from a database - the Format as field set to Tagetik:

  1. Click on the Application dropdown to select another database if there are other DBs associated with the user
  2. Click on the Account field
  3. Choose an item from the hierarchy list dropdown e.g. Account - Default view | Balance sheet or more than one item
  4. Select the Confirm button to return to the previous page by adding the item(s)
  5. or the Cancel button to not confirm and return to the previous screen
  6. Click on the Scenario field
  7. Choose an item from the hierarchy list dropdown e.g. Scenario - 2022 Budget or more than one item
  8. Select the Confirm button to return to the previous page by adding the item(s)
  9. or the Cancel button to not confirm and return to the previous screen
  10. Click on the Period field
  11. Select only one item from the flat list e.g. 10 - October
  12. Select the Confirm button to return to the previous page by adding the item
  13. Click on the Insert button to insert the Amount object in the document

If you want to add a new dimension, click on Add Dimension and select an item from the list shown by the system

  • Click on the newly added dimension field
  • select the item(s) from the hierarchy or flat list and select the Confirm button to add the item

In the case of an amount added from an external source (excel file on Sharepoint) - the Format as field is to be filled in with Excel:

  1. Click on File to select another external source from Sharepoint
  2. Click Sheet to select a sheet from the external source file
  3. Select the Select Area option and then click on Area to select the area or select the Custom Selection option and indicate the cell containing the amount in the Cell field

  4. Click on the Advanced tab to reach the second Advanced 3/3

  5. The user can change a previously chosen value as Number or Percentage, switch between the two Formats
  6. Enable or disable the Inherit Format toggle to maintain or not maintain inheritance from the document formatting.
  7. Click on SAVE at the bottom right of the side panel, and the System will update:

  8. only Metadata (if it only the Object Name was edited)

  9. Metadata and Refresh (if Object Name and/or Additional info and/or Dimensional values were edited)

Modifying a Table Object

Word Add-in > CCH® Tagetik Disclosure ribbon bar > Objects > Edit

  1. Select a table object in the document
  2. Click on Edit: the Edit Table tab pops up where you can:
  3. Click Delete to remove the table object from the document
  4. The Data and Style toggles are always displayed as active by the system
  5. If the user selects the Update enabled button and the Data and Style toggles are enabled, the System will launch an update while maintaining the Manual overrides, otherwise the Table will be updated without maintaining them
  6. Change the name
  7. or edit the additional information
  8. Click Save to save the changes just made for General information only
  9. Click on the Source Tab to display the source fields filled in

In the case of a table added from a database - the Format As field is to be valued with Tagetik:

  1. Click on Application to select another database if the user has other associated databases
  2. Select the Table Object
  3. Insert additional information (optional)
  4. Click the enabled Next button to reach the second Source Tab 2/4
  5. Click on Application to change Database (set by default if only one DB is associated with the user)
  6. Click on the Form field
  7. Select another Form defined under folder and saved on the previously selected Database
  8. If the selected form has no sheet/area defined, the system displays a message 'No area available'.
  9. Click on Sheet
  10. Select another available option from the list
  11. Click on Area
  12. Select another available option from the list
  13. Click on the Parameters Tab to access the third Parameters Tab ¾

  14. If the table does not have any parameters set, the system displays the message "No parameters available for this form" and the user can choose whether to return to the previous screen by selecting Previous or select the Next button again to go to the last formatting step.

  15. If the Table has previously set Dimensional Parameters, the System displays the dimensions already filled at the creation stage, the user can either click on a dimension and choose another one by enabling the Save button, or decide to keep the parameters and go to the Advanced Tab.

  16. If the table has previously set Non-Dimensional Parameters (such as Data, Text, Dictionary, Flag, Numerical) the user can click on the three dots of one dimension and choose another and select Confirm, otherwise they can decide to keep the parameters and go to the Advanced Tab.

Note the mandatory parameters have an asterisk and if you choose Account - scenario - period as a parameter, these are always set as mandatory.

In the case of a table added from an external source (excel file on Sharepoint) - the field Format as filled with Excel:

  1. Click on File to select another external source from Sharepoint
  2. Click Sheet to select a sheet from the external source file
  3. Click on Area to select the area of the table of interest

  4. Click on the Advanced Tab to access the fourth and last Advanced Tab 4/4

  5. Change the formatting by selecting the desired option:
  6. Document root - the Table will be inserted and formatted according to the settings declared when creating the Document in the ADVANCED section under Document Structure.
  7. Source (selected by default) the System displays the Formatted Table according to the one in CCH Tagetik excel with the same Formatting.
  8. or the user may leave the option unchanged
  9. Click on the 'SAVE' button at the bottom right of the side panel and the System will update:

  10. only Metadata (if it only the Object Name was edited)

  11. Metadata and Refresh (if edited Object Name, Sources, Parameters and Formatting)

Deleting an object

Word Add-in > CCH® Tagetik Disclosure ribbon bar > Objects > Edit

  1. Select an object on the document
  2. Click Edit: the Edit Object tab pops up
  3. Click Delete to delete the object from the document
  4. To confirm deletion, press the yes command shown by the system
