Cut, Copy and Paste Object

When you need to copy an object several times or move an object already inserted elsewhere in the same document, you can use the Copy, Cut and Paste actions, available in the CCH Tagetik Ribbon bar, in the Object Management section.

Note: Several objects can be selected at the same time to copy or move them in the document, and the selection can also include portions of text. In the following, the Copy, Cut and Paste object procedures also apply in the case of several selected objects.

Copy and Paste Object

CCH Tagetik ribbon bar > Object Management > Copy

This procedure is useful for duplicating an existing object within the same document.

  1. To select the object to be copied, click on the object in the open document to highlight its selection box
  2. To copy an object, click on the icon : the Copy tab opens, informing the user that the object has been copied successfully
  3. Place the cursor where you want to insert the new object.
  4. To paste the copied object, click on the icon : this opens the Edit tab where the user can modify the configurations of the new object. The displayed name of the new object will be the same as the copied object plus the suffix '_COPY'

Note: the Paste icon can only be usedafter clicking Copy and/or Paste.

At the end of the paste operation, the new object:

  • will be visible in the document at the position indicated by the cursor
  • will be updated with the latest data from the source
  • will be visible in the object list at the position where it appears in the document

IMPORTANT: Some restrictions on Paste Object functionality.

  • The paste function can only be used within the same document where the copy was made
  • It is not possible to perform the paste operation within a Content Control of an object or of a document part
  • Document parts cannot be copied or cut

Cut and Paste Object

CCH Tagetik ribbon bar > Object Manager > Cut

This procedure is useful for moving an existing object within the same document.

  1. To select the object to be moved, click on the object in the open document to highlight its selection box
  2. To cut the object, click on the icon : the object will be removed from the document
  3. To paste the copied object, click on the icon .
