Data entry modes
Introduction¶
There are the following data entry modes:
| Data entry | Description |
|---|---|
| Via Excel | Data is entered using data entry forms, i.e. Excel spreadsheets that allow you to extract and view information from a CCH Tagetik application database and save data entered by the user. Using Excel allows you to take advantage of Excel’s normal functionalities such as formulas and charts. For more details, see Data entry forms. |
| Via Web forms | Data is entered via an interface, i.e. a web form and data entry windows. Data is entered manually, allowing you to add to or edit the accounting values and journals already entered in the system. |
| ETL (Extraction Transformation and Loading) | Data is entered by running ETL routines, which facilitate the following operations: - extract data from external sources (Excel files, text files, data warehouses, ERP systems or CCH Tagetik itself) - process the extracted data, with aggregation or enrichment options - load data into the system. CCH Tagetik has functionalities for checking that the data entered are consistent with the data model and blocks the entry of data on scenarios that have already been closed, submitted data, etc. For more details, see Extraction, Transformation & Loading. |
| Copy tools | Data is entered using functions that allow you to automatically compile an entity’s data based on data associated with the same entity on different scenarios/periods or with other entities on the same scenario/period or a different scenario/period. |
| Algebraic operations | The entry of data is the result of operations performed by the system on the data of a selected scenario or data belonging to several scenarios. |
Based on the project's needs, data can be entered using one or several methods.
