ETL and Data Integration

Extraction, Transformation and Loading (ETL) technology is a fundamental Data Integration tool, with a reliable and efficient process that makes it possible to improve the quality of the data and the accuracy of business analysis.

The ETL module in Tagetik Software S.r.l.

In CCH Tagetik, the ETL engine functions as an interface for loading data, and is able to ensure data security and manage errors; it would not be possible to guarantee this degree of reliability by inserting data directly into an SQL table. The module is fully configurable, and allows you to extract data from external sources or from a CCH Tagetik database, transform it and load it onto various destinations, both within Tagetik CCH Tagetik (Tagetik databases) and externally (generic databases, Excel files or text files).

ETL Engine features

  • Reliability: it allows you to transform large volumes of data. It can be used as an alternative method to manually entering and importing/exporting from Excel.
  • High degree of flexibility on targets and sources : it allows you to extract both data (amounts, statistical data, FX rates) and metadata (elements of dimensions, hierarchies and groupings) from several types of external source simultaneously.

The ETL can either be run on-demand or be automated using scheduling.

Data loading example

You can load data (values) from an external system, with the transcoding of the source account codes into CCH Tagetik codes and the aggregation of the amounts to align them to the CCH Tagetik standard.
