Groupings

What groupings are

Groupings are aggregation structures with the following characteristics:

  • multi-level structures with unlimited depth, i.e. the elements may be aggregated to different levels.
  • multi-parent structures, i.e. each child element in the hierarchy may be related to several parent elements.
  • unique structures, i.e. it is possible to create just one grouping for each dimension.

Groupings allow for Category and Scenario dimensions to be aggregated.

In this example, the same scenario 2011ACT is related to both the 2011 node and the ACTUAL node.

Principles for the creation of groupings

Groupings are created in the same way for all dimensions: by creating a tree structure and creating the relationships between dimension elements and nodes. It is also possible:

  • To specify several nodes to which each new dimension element will be automatically related.
  • To exclude (without deleting) certain grouping nodes from reports, as they may not be useful for reporting purposes.
