How to define control groups

Sequence of procedures to create a control group

  1. How to create a control group

Dimensions > Control groups > List

  1. In the table listing existing control groups, click : an empty row will be added.
  2. In the Attributes tab, insert a code for the new control group and define all of its other characteristics.
  3. In the Diagnostics tab, define the characteristics of the checks to be run on the accounts.
  4. In the Relationships tab, the new account will be automatically related to a default hierarchy ($) which organises the accounts by nature and type. If necessary, replace this hierarchy or update with others.
  5. In the Restrictions tab, set the custom dimensions that the control group must take into consideration.
  6. In the Calculation Logics tab, define the calculation logics that must generate the result accounts.
  7. Click Save: the control group created will be listed in the data table.
  8. How to define the Set 1 accounts of a control group

Dimensions > Control groups > List

Note: for Variation and Detail control groups, this group of accounts is called ‘parent accounts’.

  1. Select the control group for which to define the Set 1 accounts.
  2. In the Attributes tab, in the Accounts Definition section, click Define Set 1, and the page will open to define the Set 1 accounts.
  3. Click : an empty row will be added.
  4. In the Attributes tab, select whether or not to include the account, or the accounts making up a node, in the control group, and then select the account or the node to be considered as a Set 1 account; then click Save.
  5. Repeat for all the Set 1 accounts to be defined.
  6. To view the list of Set 1 accounts and the relative Set 2 accounts contained in any nodes, click Definition result.

IMPORTANT: be careful with the order in which accounts are inserted or excluded, as Tagetik will carry out the operations in exactly the same order in which they are listed, with the next operation prevailing over the previous one. 3. How to define the Set 2 accounts of a control group

Dimensions > Control groups > List

Note: for Variation and Detail control groups, this group of accounts is called ‘child accounts’.

  1. Select the control group for which to define the Set 2 accounts.
  2. In the Attributes tab, in the Accounts Definition section, click Define Set 2, and the page will open to define the Set 2 accounts.
  3. Click : an empty row will be added.
  4. In the Attributes tab, select whether or not to include the account, or the accounts making up a node, in the control group, and then select the account or the node to be considered as a Set 2 account.
  5. If necessary, define the variation/detail type for which to run the check, and then click Save.
  6. Repeat for all the Set 2 accounts to be defined.
