The dimensions of CCH Tagetik

System dimensions

These dimensions are mandatory and are always present for all data.

First name Function
Entity This identifies the entities for which the data are collected.
Scenarios This represents the time dimension.
Period This defines the basic unit of time; this is normally 12 months, but may be customised.
Accounts This identifies any measurements or metrics subject to analysis.
Category This classifies and segments the data and keeps track of how they are generated.
Unit This manages the currencies of the transactions, financial statements and consolidation processes.

Custom dimensions

These dimensions are known as Custom Dimensions and they are necessary to meet the specific configuration requirements of a business. It is possible to define up to five custom dimensions and, once enabled, they are used in the same way as system dimensions. Once enabled, they are mandatory and are present for all data.

The various custom dimensions are linked to specific financial criteria:

Target Description
Custom dimension 1 Mandatory to manage draft bank budgeting
Custom dimension 2 This is the only dimension that can be used as a counterparty dimension, other than the Company dimension.
Custom dimension 3 Mandatory to manage assets when processing asset amortisation/depreciation.
Custom dimension 5 Mandatory to manage the products of the Production Cost Control module.

They can be used both in the Financial Layer and in the Analytical Layer.

Note: Function 0000205 must be active in the user's assigned role to allow editing and deletion of analytical and custom dimensions

Extended dimensions

IMPORTANT: extended dimensions are still available, but they will be replaced by analytical dimensions.

These dimensions make it possible to increase the level of detail of the input data and to use CCH Tagetik as a data warehouse, i.e. to collect and aggregate structured data. These dimensions can only be created if the CCH Tagetik Analytics module is present.

Note: these dimensions are not present in the tables of amounts and journals.

Analytical dimensions

These dimensions are used to manage a large number of elements. An unlimited number of them may be used, but only if the Analytical Workspaces module is enabled.

Note: Function 0000205 must be active to allow editing and deletion of analytical and custom dimensions
