Set row/column filters

Introduction¶
Setting row/column filters means defining what data will be shown in the matrix’s rows/columns. It is possible to define filters made up of individual dimensions and filters with more complex structures.
Set a filter on rows/columns
This procedure explains how to define filters on rows. Proceed in the same way to define column filters.
- In the dimensions tree, select an element or node of the desired dimension to be used as a filter for the rows, then click
next to the local filters on the rows, or drag it directly into the rows section. The filter will appear below the Rows node. - Set the filter properties as desired (see Row/column filter properties).
- Repeat the previous steps to add dimension elements or nodes from other dimensions.
Customise a filter
In the local row/column filters tree, click on the desired filter and edit its properties in the properties table (see Matrix filter properties table).
Create OR filters in the local row/column filters tree
This procedure explains how to create a filter containing several elements of a hierarchy of dimension elements directly in the row/column filters tree, by linking them to a cumulative relationship. To create such a filter, the OR function must be used (
). At runtime, that hierarchy is run in the matrix just like any other node. The procedure to be followed is:
- In the desired local filters tree, select the Rows (or columns) parent node.
- In the dimensions tree, select the desired dimension elements and click
. The elements are added on the same level.
Add OR values to an existing filter
- In the filters tree, select the desired filter.
- In the dimensions tree, select the desired dimension elements and click
. The elements are added on the same level.
Add a placeholder
Click the row/column filter that will precede the placeholder, then click
. The placeholder will appear below the selected filter.
Add a formula
- Click on the row/column filter or on the placeholder that will precede the formula, then click
. The formula placeholder will appear below the selected filter and the formula editor will open. - Select the desired options for the formula and enter the text of the formula. For instructions on how to write formulas, see Formula filters.

To view a list of the pre-existing filters on rows/columns and select the desired ones, position the cursor in the formula writing area and right click. 3. Click OK.
