Configuring validations

Define a free validation on a cell

Excel > CCH® Tagetik > Design > open form > select cell > Validation

  1. Select the operator.
  2. Select the data type.
  3. Enter a reference value for the check.
  4. (optional) Click to add a term to the validation expression.
  5. (optional) Change the relationship between the terms of the validation expression.
  6. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the added term.
  7. Insert the warning message to be shown when validation is impossible, for every system language.
  8. Define the rules for running the validation check.
  9. To save the validation, click OK.

The validation element will appear in the Open items panel, below the node of the current template.

Define matrix validation on a row/column

Excel > CCH® Tagetik > Design > select form > Matrix

  1. Select the row/column on which to set the validation check.
  2. In the properties table, click , next to Validation: the Validation window will appear.
  3. Select the operator.
  4. Select the data type.
  5. Enter a reference value for the check.
  6. (optional) Click to add a term to the validation expression.
  7. (optional) Change the relationship between the terms of the validation expression.
  8. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the current term.
  9. Insert the warning message to be shown when validation is impossible, for every system language. The message can be defined by applying shared dictionary items (see Dictionaries).
  10. Define the rules for running the validation check.
  11. To save the validation, click OK.
