Configuring validations
Define a free validation on a cell
Excel > CCH® Tagetik >
Design > open form > select cell >
Validation
- Select the operator.
- Select the data type.
- Enter a reference value for the check.
- (optional) Click
to add a term to the validation expression. - (optional) Change the relationship between the terms of the validation expression.
- Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the added term.
- Insert the warning message to be shown when validation is impossible, for every system language.
- Define the rules for running the validation check.
- To save the validation, click OK.
The validation element will appear in the Open items panel, below the node of the current template.
Define matrix validation on a row/column

Matrix
- Select the row/column on which to set the validation check.
- In the properties table, click
, next to Validation: the Validation window will appear. - Select the operator.
- Select the data type.
- Enter a reference value for the check.
- (optional) Click
to add a term to the validation expression. - (optional) Change the relationship between the terms of the validation expression.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the current term.
- Insert the warning message to be shown when validation is impossible, for every system language. The message can be defined by applying shared dictionary items (see Dictionaries).
- Define the rules for running the validation check.
- To save the validation, click OK.
