How to create a variation/detail type

Dimensions > Variation/Detail types > List

  1. In the variation/detail types list, click : an empty row will be added.
  2. In the Attributes tab, insert the code for the new variation/detail type and define all the relative characteristics, then click Save: the variation/detail type created will be listed in the data table.

How to recode a variation/detail type

Dimensions > Variation/Detail types > List

This procedure allows you to quickly modify the code attributed to one or more variation/detail types.

  1. In the variation/detail types list, select > Recode: the Recode - Var. - det. types page will open.
  2. Click : an empty row will be added.
  3. In the Attributes tab, under Code, select the code to be replaced.
  4. Under New Code, insert the new code to be assigned to the scenario.

IMPORTANT: the new code must not already be used in Tagetik. 5. Select Primary if the code inserted must prevail in case of any conflict. 6. Click Save to save the new code. 7. Repeat from step 3 in order to change other codes. 8. Click Run to recode all the new codes saved.

Note: this operation may take several minutes.

How to relate variation/detail types to nodes

Dimensions > Variation/Detail types > List

  1. In the variation/detail types list, select one or more variation/detail types to be related to the same node.
  2. In the Relationships tab, select the node with which to create the relationship, then click Save.

How to create variation/detail type nodes

Dimensions > Variation/Detail types > Grouping

  1. In the list of variation/detail type groupings, select the point where the node is to be inserted.
  2. Click ; a row will be added in the table for the new node.
  3. In the Attributes tab, define the characteristics of the node, respecting the following conditions:
If... Then...
the node contains Detail accounts do not include more than one element for which one of the following options is selected: - Balancing - Calculated Amount
the node contains Variation accounts do not include more than one element for which one of the following options is selected: - Balancing - Initial balance - Cancel - Calculated amount

IMPORTANT: for fields with several options (e.g. Merger or Modify %), each option may only be used by a single variation. For example, the Entry option cannot be selected in the Merger field if, in another field, the Entry/Exit merger option has already been selected. 4. Click Save.

How to add variation/detail types to a node

Dimensions > Variation/Detail types > Grouping

  1. In the list of variation/detail type groupings, select the point where the variation/detail type is to be inserted.
  2. Click and a row will be added in the table for the new variation/detail type.
  3. In the Attributes tab, define the characteristics of the variation/detail type.
  4. In the Relationships tab, define the relationship with any other nodes, then click Save.
