Details of FX rate properties

Description

This property allows you to convert the currency (of the entity or transaction) of every figure in the matrix into the selected currency, using the FX rate defined for the scenario/period in use. To do this, it is necessary to define an element of the Currency dimension (row/column filter, matrix filter, tab filter or form filter) and set its FX rate property with the FX rate to be used. This operation may be useful for comparing the turnover of entities with different currencies, for example.

Property details

Depending on the type of matrix, the FX rate property has several available options:

Matrix type Options
Financial layer - From configuration: default value, which appears between brackets. The FX rate is determined by the Default FX rate for the new filters on the currency parameter in the general form settings in CCH TagetikSetup & Admin > Settings > Forms tab > Default section). Navbar > Settings > Forms tab > Default section) See Settings window. - None: only reads records with the selected currency from the database. - Final FX rate: the records read by the database are converted into the selected currency using the final FX rate, as defined in the FX rate table. - Average FX rate: the records read by the database are converted into the selected currency using the average FX rate, as defined in the FX rate table. - Period average FX rate: the records read by the database are converted into the selected currency using the period average FX rate, as defined in the FX rate table. Based on account: in the accounts table, it is possible to define the FX rate to be used in the various types of data processing to covert the amounts (see Account elements table). With this setting, the form converts records read from the database into the selected currency, using the relative FX rate, as defined in the table, for each of them. Note: The FX rate property of the Currency dimension (as well as the equivalent property in Reference FX rates) does not support the Period average FX rate option if the form uses the standard reporting engine. In this case, when the form is run, the system changes this option, setting it to Based on account. The user receives a message inviting them to correct the form's configuration.
Analytical layer None: the Currency dimension is used as a dimension filter. Only records whose currency is the selected currency will be read by the database.
Based on the measure: the option to be applied is read from the numeric measure. The desired FX rate for measures can be defined from the web interface. See Dataset fields
Based on account: with this setting, the form converts records read from the database into the selected currency, using the relative FX rate, as defined in the table, for each of them. If the account dimension is not present on the dataset, the Based on the measure behaviour will be applied.

Matrices on multiple workspaces

If a sheet contains both a matrix on a financial workspace and a matrix on an analytical workspace, when a currency filter is applied to several matrices, such as a tab filter or form filter, the available options are the same as for the financial workspace. In order for the filter options to be also applied to the multidimensional matrix of the analytical workspace, the global filter options are converted as follows:

  • none -> none
  • final FX rate, average FX rate, period average FX rate, based on account -> based on measure

For more details on the logics that regulate these conversions, see Currency conversion algorithm.
