Adding an Amount to the presentation

CCH Tagetik Ribbon Bar > Objects > New

Depending on the data source from which the value associated with the amount originates, this procedure allows one of the following types of Amount objects to be inserted into the document:

  1. Amount from Tagetik database
  2. Amount from Excel file
  3. Amount from Tagetik Form

Below you will find the procedures for each source. For all amounts, in the General tab:

  1. Click on New in the object section of the Ribbon Bar.
  2. Fill in the form with the mandatory fields and, under Object Type, make sure you select Amount.

  2. Select a Default format from those available in the drop-down menu or define a Custom format, taking care to respect international conventions requiring the dot "." as decimal separator and the comma ',' as thousand separator. The character used to separate thousands or decimals will be converted according to the language of the document.
  3. Click on Insert to add the Amount to the document, or on Previous to return to previous tabs.

Once the data entry process is complete, the amount will appear in the document with the same formatting as the paragraph where it was entered.

It is possible to create a customised numeric and/or percentage format defined by a specific 'identifier'. Here are some examples:

  • use the numeric format identifier #,##0 'ths' or #,##0 'mills' to obtain values in thousands and millions;

  • use the numeric format identifier '-'. It can be used to replace the numeric value zero with this output format. The format identifier '-' placeholder zero replaces the zero with the corresponding identifier; otherwise, the zero is displayed as the result.
