Set Rate vs. Ending Values
When you set up a forecast item, you must distinguish between rates and ending values:
- Rates are summed when you create a report. The total is the sum of the time values.
- Ending values are not summed when you create a report. The total is the value last entered.
For example, to convert a monthly sales forecast into an annual forecast, you sum 12 monthly values to calculate each annual value. Conversely, to convert a monthly cash balance forecast into an annual projection, you would use only the last monthly value in each year.
Values are treated differently when you convert between period lengths.
To set rate or ending values
In the properties of a record, in the Data Values list, define the record values as rates or ending values.
