In Tagetik, the entity is the dimension used to identify the entities that guide the data collection process and the approval/certification process.

The list of entities can be accessed from the administrator-user’s web interface by following the path Set-up and Admin > Dimensions tile > Entity > List.

The information for setting up the specifics of the financial planning process is:

  • the fiscal policy used by the entity. The fiscal policycontaining all relevant information for the purposes of calculating the relative taxes and payments;
  • run as entity. This allows the user to identify the items on the list which represent the actual legal entities;
  • run as sub-entity. This allows the user to identify the items on the entity list which represent sub-entities.

Entity limitations / custom dimensions

In Tagetik, by default it is possible to collect data on all the possible intersections between entity and custom dimensions. If the user wants to disable the collection of data on particular intersections between entity / custom dimensions for all users, it is necessary to specify the entities for which there exist limitations on the custom dimensions elements that can be used during the data entry phase. To do this, it is necessary to set the content of the Restrictions tab.

In particular, for the purposes of financial planning it is possible to associate a default element with every entity, for every custom dimension managed. That default element is used by the system in generic Financial Planning data processing, such as the calculation of interest, the calculation of applicable taxes, and in the data entry phase every time the data item to be inserted is not detailed on that dimension.

For example, supposing the user has the “product” custom dimension, we can have costs detailed by product and others which are not detailed by product, such as salaries or insurance. For more details, see Users rights: Restrictions on dimensions
