Generic rules

In Tagetik, it is possible to define across-the-board (“general”) rules for the entire financial planning module. The management of the general rules can be accessed from the administrator-user’s web interface, by following the path Setup & Admin > Data Processing tile > Cash Flow Planning > General financial rules.

Navbar > Data Processing > Cash Flow Planning > General financial rules.

The general rule is made up of a series of information. In particular, it is necessary to tell the system:

  • the data source / target category. That is the category:
  • from which the system reads the data of the initial actual BS and projected P&L account;
  • on which it writes the Forecast BS and the additions to the P&L account (automatic calculation of depreciation, medium-/long-term financial expenses and income and with the management of taxation);
  • the alternative data generation category if sub-entities are involved in the financial planning process, indicate the category in such a way that keeps the data generated on the sub-entities separate from the data generated on the entities;
  • the target category for direct cash flow. That is the category on which the system writes the account “responsible” for all financial entries (this account can be a projected P&L account or initial balance sheet account, an asset account, a salary account, etc.).
  • the alternative target category for direct cash flow
  • Asset depreciation calculation on actual data. In general, the budget data processing calculates depreciation considering only the purchase events contained in the simulation range. By activating this option, the depreciation data processing also processes purchase events with purchase date prior to the start of the simulation and generates depreciation for the estimate periods. This is particularly useful in cases where the user utilises the “Copy data between processes” utility, since this copy transfers the purchase event by date, and therefore after the transfer to different periods, the purchase events may fall outside the simulation interval and the system may not calculate the depreciation.
  • Calculate cash management by counterparty entity. In general, the budget data processing calculates cash management without taking account of the individual counterparty entity balances; therefore, regardless of those values, it is transferred to the deposit line if the balance present on the main line is greater than zero, and to the credit line when it is less than said balance. In order for the calculation to take account of the balances of the counterparty entities it is necessary to activate this option when sorting from one section to another
  • Revaluation/Devaluation for FX rate difference on which any debit/credit FX rate difference (cost/revenue) generated by the revaluation of accounts, defined with a different currency from that used for the preparation of the financial statements, is booked
  • Forecast: variation for carry forward. If defined, then in cases of forecast process and for standard balance sheet accounts, the system carries forward the initial balance sheet value, as defined in the last actual period, to all estimate periods of the first year on the variation account that has the specified Variation & Detail type. If it is not specified, the system carries forward the value on the variation account with the higher code and not the initial amount type code.
  • Managed dimensions in relationships with financial rules. Indicate the dimensions that the user wants to be managed in the relating of dimensions to financial rules.

Here it is possible to define the origins (of the data) to be considered as input origins for the projected variations P&L, the projected variations and the initial balance sheet (input origin configuration).

The general rule is defined only once; therefore, different versions of it cannot be created but it can be overridden on the process.

The system uses the general rule for processes in which the overriding of the rule is not enabled, while for others the system makes a copy of the general rule and allows it to be modified, which will obviously be valid for that process only.
