Data Model Configuration
Every Tagetik application is based on a multidimensional model. That data model is shared among the various processes that have been set up, but in some cases it is necessary, for some dimensions, to set specific information depending on the process implemented. For example, in the presence of a financial planning process on the list of accounts it is necessary to set, for each standard account, the contra-entries necessary to perform the planning entries, information which is, conversely, not used in a consolidation process.
On the other hand, some dimensions are only involved in certain processes; for example, the fiscal policy or tax rates relate only and exclusively to a financial planning process.
The data model setup for the purposes of financial planning is summarised in the following flowchart:
- enable the “Processes used – Cash flow planning” option in the general configuration to tell Tagetik that you want to set up a financial planning process;
- complete the Entity table;
- complete the currencies list and configure the preferred currency;
- complete the accounts table for the standard part of the accounts;
- complete the variation accounts list;
- create the variation accounts for each standard balance sheet;
- create the control groups and deploy them;
- define the result accounts;
- set the carry forward rules;
- compile the categories list;
- open the planning scenarios and their periods;
- open the event scenario;
- create the process with an indication of the phase of the workflow model with which to associate the Cash Flow Planning data processing;
- associate the scenarios / periods and the event scenario with the relative process;
- associate the various entities, accounts and categories with the created process;
- perform process deployment;
- set the interest rate types and the interest rate value necessary for the financial policy;
- compile the list of Fiscal Policies and Taxes and the relative taxes;
- link the relative fiscal policy to the various entities;
- define the tax rates;
- define the sensitive accounts that contribute to the definition of the tax base for the calculation of the taxes on an accrual basis at the end of the year;
- define the FX rates.
Let us look at the attributes, pertaining to every dimension, that are necessary for a financial planning process. An explanation of the attributes that are assigned to more than one process is included in the “Basic Administration” chapter of the user manual.
