Create a matrix
- In the spreadsheet, select an empty cell not adjacent to an existing matrix and then click New Matrix
Note: The selected cell is occupied by the matrix update button. The matrix starts in the cell at the bottom right of the selected cell. 2. In the New Matrix window, select or search for the desired dataset and click OK. The matrix development cell (containing the update button) and the dimensions panel appear on the spreadsheet.
Note: Virtual Datasets and Datasources are now also supported to increase performance and be more flexible. Now it is also possible to search for a specific dataset/workspace by simply typing its name after clicking on the drop-down selector. The search will start after typing at least two characters.
3. Click on the matrix development cell and place the cursor in the bottom right-hand corner. The cursor changes to
.
4. Click and, while holding down, select the desired column area and repeat the action for the row area.
5. Drag the dimensions to the desired row/column headers.
For instructions on how to work on rows, see Working with rows and columns in a matrix.
Moving a matrix
- In the spreadsheet, select the entire matrix area.
- Drag the matrix to the desired position.
Cut, copy and paste a matrix
- In the spreadsheet, select the entire area of a matrix.
- To cut, press CTRL+X.
- To copy, press CTRL+C.
- Select the cell in which to paste the matrix and type CTRL+V.

IMPORTANT: if the original matrix is copied and pasted, the original will become a static copy. The first copy and paste generates an updatable matrix. Subsequently, the pasted matrices are only static copies of the matrix. Therefore they will not have an update button.
Cutting and pasting is also possible with the matrix context menu options or the Home> Cliboard buttons on the toolbar. However, pairs of commands from the same group must always be used, e.g. always from the context menu, or always by key combination.
Deleting the contents of a matrix
It is possible to delete the contents of a matrix in three different ways:
- Select all row and column headings and press the DELETE key.
- Select all row and column headings, right-click, then click on Clear Contents.
- Select all columns and rows containing column and row headers, right-click, then click Delete.
