Multi-template forms

What they are

In CCH Tagetik, it is possible to create both reports and data entry forms that have several templates, in which every template contains specific matrices and filters.

In both data entry and navigation modes, when a multi-template form is opened, all the templates are run. Multi-template forms can be used for two purposes:

  • to create reports (and therefore report books, at the highest level) containing several work folders that are useful in a specific operational context
  • to create reports and data entry forms for complex data processing, using formulas that can target cells of other templates.

Example of a multi-template report

To create a report on data at the year-end, a form with three templates needs to be created:

  • Profit and Loss
  • Balance Sheet
  • Indirect cash flow

Example of a multi-template form for data entry and reports

To create a data entry form in which to insert quantities sold by product (Q) and prices per product (P), the following templates must be included:

  • one template for inserting the quantities sold
  • one template for inserting prices
  • one template the shows the result P*Q in order to calculate the total revenues for the products

Restrictions on the names of multi-template forms

The names of the sheets in the form cannot exceed 31 characters. When they are named automatically by the Link the template name in the sheets setting, the template name is concatenated to the sheet names, and the name generation algorithm removes excess characters (see Form options window).
