Business workflow with dimensions per phase

Introduction

The distinctive feature of business workflows with a dimension by step is that each step can be assigned an organisational dimension: Entity, custom dimension, or analytical dimension.

If all steps are associated with the Entity organisational dimension, you must specify whether the Process Hub or the Legacy Dashboard is to be used:

  • Process Hub: this mode allows the use of the dashboard with the new interface
  • Legacy dashboard: this mode allows the use of the dashboard with the legacy user interface

IMPORTANT:

  • The DTP task can only be executed in standard mode, with the option to use datasets partitioned by Entity, if the Business Workflow uses only steps by Entity.
  • The DTP type task can be executed in 'Context independent run' mode and without using datasets partitioned by Entity if the Business Workflow does not exclusively consist of steps per Entity.
  • The Job task type is only available if the Business Workflow uses only steps by Entity.

For each step, it is possible to define on the process which task workflows to use for each lowest level element and dimension node associated with that step.

Business Workflow Steps

Two types of steps are available when defining a Business Workflow:

Element Description
Contributor step Contains activities that were run by contributors. It can be associated with any dimension.
Consolidator step Contains activities that were run by the consolidators. It can only be associated with the Entity dimension.
