Handling manual changes on tables with Flag Style

Introduction

The table inserted in a document can be modified by the user and maintained in the document through two distinct options Data and Style.

Below are procedures on how a table maintains manual changes by style by overwriting all changes made by a user otherwise present on the source.

Note Before making any manual changes, it is mandatory to keep the Word sheet autosave set to ON and wait until the document status is Saved before launching any update. If the status remains on Saving, the user can force the saving by selecting the Save button in the top left corner.

Maintaining Manual Changes by Style

Add-in Word > CCH® Tagetik DisclosureTable ObjectEdit - RibbonTable ObjectKeep overrides on - StyleToggle set - ONUpdate

Since a table is made up of rows and columns, manual modifications by Style means anything that is modified that affects the table structure or the chart compared to the source. At this point, the user can edit the structure of a table by going to the Table object's edit menu, setting the Style toggle to On and launching an update via the [Update] button.

Here is a list of all manual changes allowed by Word by first selecting the object and Layout Table

  • Row/column distribution
  • Set row height/column length
  • RowRule application for one/more rows
  • Row Options ( Right click - Table Properties - Row Tab - Flag On Allow row to break across pages
  • Autofit ( Autofit contents - Autofit Windows - Fixed column Width)
  • Text orientation of a cell (all orientation directions)
  • Cell Margin - Option Table ( Top - Bottom - Left - Right )
  • Allow Autofit at table level - Cell Margin - Table Option ( Automatically resize to fit contents) Flag On
  • Table Alignment - Right click - Table Properties - Table Tab - Alignment (left, centre.right) Preferred with percentage or centimetres
  • Cell Space - Table Option - Allow spacing between cells set on with centimetres set

IMPORTANT: Any changes related to Colour, Font, Style, Effect, Shadow, Highlight, Size, Bold, Italic, Underline, Strikethrough, Double-strikethrough, Emboss, Emphasis mark, superscript, subscript, Hidden, Outline and Resize of table object cells will not be retained after updating.

Note The row and column merge split is not maintained

Note the Layout Table option also affects all tables inserted as images

Here is a list of all manual changes allowed by Word by first selecting the Table and Table Design object from the ribbon

  • Shading (colour for a single cell)
  • Edges - Top/bottom/left/right Note- Horizontal/Vertical is not maintained
  • Edge thickness
  • Edge Styles
  • Border Painter
  • Pen colour
  • Diagonal up/down
  • Table Style options

Note Table style is not maintained

The system launches a data processing and finishes keeping the changes made by the user.

Note If the table structure, known as cardinality, is altered by adding or deleting a row or column, at the end of the update operation, the System will not perform the changes and will display a Warning message "manual changes will not be made for cardinality change".

If the user wishes to restore the Table before the changes by data, a restore data processing can be launched from the Edit Panel of the selected Table object by selecting the down arrow of the Update Button and selecting the FULL RESET option

Add-in Word > CCH TagetikTable ObjectEdit - RibbonTable ObjectToggle set - ON or OFFUpdate dropdown>FULL RESET

Note the system does not take into account the Data toggle configuration set to ON or OFF

Maintaining Manual Changes by Style for Multi-object Update

Word add-ins > CCH® Tagetik Disclosure ribbon bar > Object list available updates > Table or Chart selectedLaunch update

Before launching the multi-object update, the user modifies the table as desired by design or layout by following the procedure Maintain manual changes by Style and set the Style Toggle ON via EDIT mode through the procedure Multi-object Updates

Note: If the table structure, known as cardinality, is altered by adding or deleting a row or column, at the end of the update operation, the System will not perform the changes and will display a Warning message "manual changes will not be made for cardinality change".

Maintain manual changes by Style and launch a recursive update

Word add-ins > CCH® Tagetik Disclosure ribbon bar > UpdatesDocument Part to Update > Update and Get Changes

Having a Table or Chart added in a document part, after making manual changes for all tables by design or layout by setting the Style Toggle On or leaving it Off, the user can launch a recursive update displaying on the Master document the Table with or without modified content depending on the option chosen.

The steps to follow are given under Maintain Manual Changes by Data and launch a recursive update of the topic ManualChanges Data

Note: If the table structure, known as cardinality, is altered by adding or deleting a row or column, at the end of the update operation, the System will not perform the changes and will display a Warning message "manual changes will not be made for cardinality change".
