Equity pick-up on consolidation scenario data processing

Introduction

The equity pick-up on consolidation scenario data processing was developed to meet the specific needs of the North American market, and is limited by them.

The data processing uses the same setup as the data processing that generates the data on the original scenario. For this reason, it generates entries on the Consolidable amount type within the entity journal generated on the original scenario.

It requires the following additional setup:

  • Enable data processing for the process (see ).
  • Apply a category filter on the consolidation scenarios to exclude the category on which the EPU entries are generated (see ).

Data processing logic

This data processing uses the same data processing logics on the original scenario. However, the calculation input data are not the original data but the data converted into the consolidation currency.

By using the data present on the consolidation scenario (Consolidable amount type), you have input data already converted with the maximum level of accuracy. The data processing also works periodically, reading the data of the previous period only, so it is not necessary to reprocess all previous periods.

For this reason, the data of the Equity pick-up journal on the original scenario are not converted. This is carried out by excluding the category among those processed in the consolidation scenario. Therefore, if the data processing on consolidation scenarios is also used, the data is only obtained on two types of data:

  • Original: data generated by the EPU calculation data processing on the original scenario
  • Consolidable: data generated by the EPU calculation data processing on the consolidation scenario.

The data on the Proportional and Converted amount types are not present.

IMPORTANT: the journal is not subject to conversion. This means that any rows inserted manually on the journal on the original scenario will not be reported on the consolidation scenario. Any adjustments must be made in a new journal or overridden on the same journal on the consolidation scenario.

Data processing restrictions

The equity-pick up on consolidation scenario data processing has the following limitations:

  • The amounts due to minorities cannot be calculated on the journals and cannot be subject to IFRS5 reclassification.
  • The equity evaluation data processing does not deal with EPU journals.
  • Cases in which entities are consolidated using the proportional method are not managed.
  • Entities that are deconsolidated during the year are not managed.
