Azure Information Protection Label for Excel

Introduction

If the user belongs to a domain where the use of Sensitivity labels is mandatory, a label must be associated with the form template.

The label can either be explicitly selected when creating or editing a template, or the default label defined in the system configuration can be used (see chapter CCH Tagetik Overview > Settings Window)

How to apply a label

In order to apply a label to a form, it is necessary to open the template and select a label that does not require the file to be encrypted from among the labels made available to the user by the system. Encrypted labels are indicated by the image of a padlock in the label icon. The assignment procedure can be performed either when creating a new template or each time a template is opened in design mode. The selected label will be saved within the file only upon saving.

IMPORTANT: Encrypted and/or non-existing labels are NOT supported.

Default Label

The default label is meant to ensure correct operation when opening a form that does not have a label but is nevertheless launched in a domain where the label is mandatory.

Cases in which the default label is used in a way that is completely transparent to the end user are

  • Template without label
  • Templates with labels initially consistent and then no longer so, due to changes in the label definition
  • Bach import of forms without label or with inconsistent label
  • Import of ad hoc forms without label or with inconsistent label

IMPORTANT: If the default label is not consistent, the user is warned by an on-screen message when the default label should be applied. If the form is opened in Design mode, the opening process is not blocked, vice versa, if the form was opened in Navigation or Data Entry mode, it will not be opened.
