Countervalue calculation

Abstract

This data processing is aimed at providing an instrument to calculate the counter value of the amounts (gross and IC) in a massive way from the transaction currency (original currency) to the entity currency.

Description

Generally the countervalue calculation is not necessary since in Tagteik data are automatically defined in dual currency. Nevertheless, in some cases it is necessary to update the amount expressed in the entity currency from the amount expressed in the transaction currency in a massive way. This is the case, for instance, of the Currency interest rates update or of the import of only the amount in the transaction currency from external source .

Setup

In order to make the countervalue calculation work properly, it is necessary to define the following information:

  • Currency interest rates
  • Period length (for the conversion at period average FX rate)

Currency interest rates

Accounts of P&L and Other Variation nature or accounts of Variation type

The currency interest rate used for the countervalue calculation of these accounts is the one defined in the accounts table, with some exceptions:

  1. When in the process Data entry rules (Setup & Admin > Processes > Select Process > Process Definition > Data Entry & Submission Rules > Gross Amount & IC > Override rules) (Navigation panel> Processes & Workflows > Process > Select Process > Process Definition > Data Entry & Submission Rules > Gross Amount & IC > Override rules) the "Override Period average FX rate on P&L or on Variations accounts" value has been selected as P&L: Countervalue calculation method :

In this case we use the period average interest rate applied to the periodic amount;

  1. When a P&L FX rate or a Previous P&L FX rate has been specified on the account table:

In this case we use the interest rate defined in the P&L: Countervalue calculation method of the process;

  1. When one of the following FX rates has been specified on the account table: Previous Final, Historical, Initial Balance, Year-to-date average.

In this case we use the final interest rate

Normal or Detail accounts of BS, Guar. and Comm. and Other stocks nature

These accounts are converted only if the "Run Countervalue calculation on BS, Guar. and Comm. and Other stocks accounts" option is enabled in the data entry advanced rules of the process.

The currency interest rate used for the countervalue calculation of these accounts is the one defined in the accounts table, with some exceptions:

  1. When a P&L FX rate or a Previous P&L FX rate has been specified on the account table.

In this case we use the interest rate defined in the P&L: Countervalue calculation method of the process;

  1. When one of the following FX rates has been specified on the account table: Previous Final, Historical, Initial Balance, Year-to-date average

In this case we use the final interest rate

Period length

The period length defined in the Scenario/Period table is used to identify the previous period when it is necessary to calculate the periodic amount.
