Control group balancing
Purpose of the function¶
In the data collection process, financial statement amounts can be gathered using forms. These forms contain accounts for which you need to insert detailed information or for which you need to explain the adjustment compared to the previous year. Typically, a formula shows the balancing of adjusted amounts.
The control group balancing function allows you to run the same operation for entity and consolidation journals. In fact, for every control group it is possible, through a drill down, to view and potentially edit the adjusted accounts. The balancing totals are updated on every save and give information on the accuracy of the data.
This function uses the Diagnostic engine to identify the adjusted control groups in the journal and allows you to perform analyses and data entry. Using the control group structure allows you to view all the adjusted accounts in the journal.
Restrictions¶
This function has restrictions on the editing of data in specific cases.
- If the system does not manage the counterparty on individual data items.
- If, in the default settings of the general journal rules, the Amounts field is set to Write amounts in Debit & Credit columns in absolute value (Default Settings window).
- If the journals manage IC Spreading ().
- If, in the process’s journal rules, the flags related to transaction currency management on journals are disabled ().
