Purpose of window

This window allows you to define the default settings for journal data entry. You cannot set overrides at the process level in these settings.

Page fields

Element	Description
Journal # separator	Defines the symbol to be used as the separator between the journal prefix and suffix.
Journal prefix	Defines the way in which the a journal number’s prefix is generated. - Entity code: the entity journal prefix will be the code of the declaring entity. - User's personal prefix: the prefix will be the value of the Journal prefix number defined in the users table for the user inserting the journal. - User's personal prefix & Entity code: the prefix will be the concatenation of the Journal prefix number, Journal number separator and, only in Declaring entity journals, the Declaring entity code.
Amounts	Defines how the system writes amounts in the database. - Write amounts in one column with accounting signs. - Write amounts in Debit & Credit columns in absolute value. If selected, two columns for the amount will be shown in the journal: Debit amount and Credit amount.
Show only main accounts	In the data entry step for the rows of a journal, only the rows for the main accounts are shown. The filter can be edited from the data entry window.
Exclude Result accounts and their variations	In the data entry step for the rows of a journal, neither the rows for the result accounts nor their variations are shown. The filter can be edited from the data entry window.
Journals data entry: account type	Defines the type of account on which to filter the rows of a journal to be shown. - Details - Variation - Normal - Any
Journal Book: View amounts in Debit & Credit Columns	Defines how the debit/credit is shown, either in separate columns or in a single column with a sign, on the journals book in Excel.
