Features not supported in web forms

Introduction

The features, or the options of some features, that are available in the Excel add-in but not supported – or supported with certain differences – in web forms are listed below.

Features supported with exceptions

Element Description
Spreading Does not support advanced syntax (e.g. "+10%").
Matrix Layout options For the autofit function on columns, only the by value option is supported. This option is also used if from the template is selected in the autofit settings.
Drill Down Only supports row/column drill down. Note: Cell drill down is partly covered by ad hoc analysis.
Slicer Features not supported. Use of the web form filter panel to edit the values of parameters at runtime, and objects of the cell field to display the values of the parameter within the form.
Autofit rows Only supported for Line by Line transactional forms, not for multidimensional forms.
Autofit columns Inherits the column autofit rules from the template. Supports autofit by value.
Validation checks Supports verification checks, both inside and outside the matrix. Options on save and on close do not work in web forms because the verification checks are continuous and, in the presence of expressions that cannot be verified, the system prevents data from being saved. Note: implementation differs when compared with the Excel add-in.
CCH Tagetik hyperlinks CCH Tagetik hyperlinks are supported, but references to an Excel cell can only lead to cells of the current sheet.
Validation queries If elements generated by the query that can be selected in cells include numbers only (e.g. "01", "02", etc.), the cell formatting type must be "General" or "Text", otherwise, when the value is selected, the system could remove the zero and treat the selected value as a number. In contrast, the Excel client always treats the selected value as text. Multi-selection is not supported in Line by Line matrices. In contrast, multi-selection is possible on the Excel client.
Download forms Only supported in XLSX format.
Subtotals It does not support the intersection of row and column SUBTOTAL formulas in a dynamic matrix. As a result, the values in these cells are incorrect.

Features not applicable/not implemented

  • VBA macros or objects
  • Work offline
  • Report list
  • Cell-based reporting (TGKSend, TGKRet, etc.)
  • Hidden comments
  • Hidden sheets
  • Save/load formulas
  • Show formulas used
  • Reference to Spreadsheet Cell in Query Form (e.g. using the syntax ${A1} to refer to the spreadsheet cell A1 in the selection).
  • Excel table defined in the query result area
  • Management of dictionary items outside the matrix
  • Edit intercompany declarations for matrices with Analytical Workspace datasets
  • Non-incremental saving of multidimensional matrix data
  • Cell properties functionality in the presence of cells with overridden content
  • Excel 'Data Validation' functionality (use Dictionaries instead)
  • Validation queries are not supported in web forms

Unsupported Microsoft Excel features

The use of Excel's named ranges feature in formulas and charts is not recommended when applying tab filters to the form. When the form is opened as a web form, in all templates the named ranges may not be correctly defined in spreadsheets after the first (e.g. formulas with names generated by CCH Tagetik using customised queries). In sheets after the first, charts could lose some of their formatting and, if used, any customised colour palette.

On web clients, in cells that are intersections of SUBTOTAL formulas in rows and columns, the formula is incorrect, and consequently, the cell values are also incorrect.
