ETL > Domains > Dimensions and Dictionaries > Completeness Checks
Purpose of window¶
This window allows you to check whether, in line with the indicated values of the dimension in question, the values of other dimensions are mandatory, optional or prohibited.
Attributes tab
Please find below the most important fields.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Element code | Value which the specific dimension can take during the execution step |
| Lists of options for other dimensions in the ETL domain | If the value of the specific dimension is the value defined in the Element code field, the options allow you to define the value of other dimension as: - Mandatory: the dimension related to the option must be defined; - Optional: the dimension related to the option is optional; - Prohibited: the dimension related to the option must be left empty. |
Note: In order for the checks to be run, you must define a “Completeness check” transformation task within an ETL routine. Thus, in the execution step, processed data that do not satisfy the rule will be reported to the user as warnings.
Example
Suppose you enable the management of two custom dimensions, “Function” and “Segment”, and you have account “1000 - Salaries” which must be detailed for Function but not for Segment. To verify the consistency of the extracted data, you can define a rule that specifies that for the “Account” dimension, in relation to element 1000, the “Function” dimension must be mandatory whereas the “Segment” dimension must be empty.
