Impacted data processing mode

Introduction

The Impacted data processing mode allows you to process only data that has been edited since the previous time that the data processing was run. For example, if certain entity journals have been edited, only the data related to the affected entities will be re-run. It can be applied to consolidation data processing both on original scenarios and on consolidation scenarios.

This mode reduces the time it takes to run the data processing, specifically in the final phases of data collection, when there very few changes made to the entered data. By default, all the consolidation data processing is run according to this mode, which can nevertheless be deactivated.

IMPORTANT: Impacted mode does not detect changes to the setup. In this case, you must disable the mode and completely re-run the data processing.

Impacted mode can be disabled for all data processing with the “Disable impacted mode in all data processing” option (see the ).

How Impacted data processing works

Impacted mode is only available for entity data processing and consolidation data processing. If the user decides not to run all the data processing active for the process, they can use the dedicated run window, and the system will then use the filters specified by the user on entities or nodes.

To be able to assess what to process based on the data processing that have changed, CCH Tagetik tracks, each time the data processing is run, the information that allows it to compare the data present at the time of the data processing and compares it with the information that was processed with the previous running of the data processing.

For example, for a given scenario/period, it tracks the data of an entity on amount categories or entity journals. If at least one amount or one journal changes, CCH Tagetik calculates which entities are needed to correctly run the selected data processing.

Or, if data on a consolidation category or a relationship (intercompany data) is edited, CCH Tagetik analyses the data regarding the entities involved and calculates which relationships are needed to correctly run the selected data processing.

CCH Tagetik also analyses certain customisable data, both on original scenarios (FX rates, ownership structure register), and on consolidation scenarios (overridden FX rates, overrides on proportional/converted/consolidable data). If these data have been edited since the previous data processing, then the system processes all the entities and relationships that can be linked to the changes made.

For area data processing, it compares the date the data processing was last run on the consolidation scenario with the date of the data on the original scenario for every entity and/or relationship. If earlier, it runs the data processing of that entity and/or relationship on the consolidation scenario.

IMPORTANT: Input data originating from stored procedures are only considered if the origin uses the prefix CPM.
