Purpose of the page¶
This page allows you to define the fields of the dataset and the relative properties. The fields may be dimensional, and therefore defined to be dragged from the dimensions tree, or custom, and therefore created in the dataset.
Page sections
| Element | Description |
|---|---|
| Dimensions tree | Shows all usable dimensions in the dataset and allows you to add them to be dragged as dataset fields into the fields table. |
| Fields table | Shows the dataset fields and allows you to reorder them to be dragged. Note: to reorder the fields, no changes to the fields must be in progress. |
| Field properties panel | Shows the properties of the selected dataset field. |

|---|---|
| Dimensional element that can be used as a dataset field. Displayed in different ways depending on the type: - blue = financial dimensions - black = analytical dimensions | |
| Node of a hierarchy - First level nodes = Dimension node - Sub-node All elements = The dataset fields defined through this item only accept dimension elements as input values. - Sub-node All nodes = The dataset fields defined through this item only accept nodes of the hierarchy as input values. - Hierarchy level sub-nodes = The dataset fields defined using this item only accept nodes of the selected hierarchy level as input values. |

| Label | Field ID. Alphanumeric codes are permitted (maximum 30 characters). Only ISO Latin characters are allowed and reserved keywords are not accepted (see Restrictions on Field Names). |
| Description | Description of the field in all languages managed in the environment. |
| Field type | - With dimensional fields, this allows you to select a dimension or a dimensional attribute. - With custom fields, this allows you to select the data type. - If the dataset is offline, with text type fields, the field can be replaced with a dimension type field (excluding the Scenario, Period and Entity dimensions). In this case, if the dataset has partitions, the length of the edited text type field must be shorter than or equal to the length of the chosen dimension. Note: this function is not available if the encoded option is active on the field, or if the field contains personal data (see Personal Data Protection). |
| Details/Hide | With Field type set to Text: - Format: Simple (selected by default) or Formatted (Rich Text Field) (see Text). - Length: maximum permitted number of characters (see Text). - Default value: default value when the field is not defined. With Field type set to Number: - Length: maximum permitted number of figures (see Number). - Decimal Digits: maximum permitted number of decimals (see Number). - Default value: default value when the field is not defined. |
| Field values | Allows you to associate a dictionary with the field, and therefore to select the fields of the SQL query to be used to define the code (Query field code) and the description (Query field description) of the dictionary items. Note: if the Query field code and Query field description are not defined, to display the data in the forms the system uses the first two fields of the dictionary query for the code and for the description, respectively. If the dictionary query only has one field, this is used for both the code and the description. Note: in the absence of dictionaries, Field values shows the permitted values for the field (e.g. Free in case of custom fields, Elements of the dimension, Elements of all levels or Elements of the level in case of dimension fields). Note: associating a dictionary with a numeric or date type measure is not supported. It is recommended to associate a dictionary with text-type measures. |
| Multi-selection | Enables the selection of multiple values, if the measurement is associated with a dictionary. In the Max Items field, you can specify the maximum number of items that can be selected, while in the Separator field, you can indicate the separator character that will distinguish multiple elements when reading. Note: If the Max Items field is empty, an indefinite number of selectable elements will be allowed on the same cell within the limits of the database Note: Some separator characters (such as ' |
| Encoded | (With Field type set to Text) Enables custom encoding to save any non-ISO Latin characters on the database, to prevent errors when the field is used in formulas or filters in DTP configurations. Cannot be edited if the dataset is online and contains partitions. |
| Display mode | Displayed content that identifies the field in the columns of forms in navigation or data entry mode. - Code - Description - Code and Description |
| Mandatory | If active, the dataset only accepts records where all mandatory fields have been defined. |
| Key | If a dataset “without partition” has been created, the key flag is enabled. When enabled, it defines the field as a physical key on the database, which makes it possible to insert unique values only in the dataset. In case of a dataset with a key field, multidimensional data entry is disabled. Advisable parameter for inserting table type values. |
| Personal Data Protection | When active, includes the field in the personal data protection checks (see Personal Data Protection). Only available if function 0004095 - Personal Data Protection is enabled for the user. IMPORTANT: once the Personal Data Protection option is selected, the checkbox is blocked. |
| Editability | Manages the editability of the field when the dataset is accessed via a transactional form (Line-by-line Form). - Editable - Editable only on new rows - Read only IMPORTANT: When the dataset contains the dimensions Scenario, Period , Entity and Account (or the Account/Category pair in the case of an Account/Category process), the editability of the data depends on the submission status of the process. Since these four dimensions determine the individual record’s submission status, they are set by the system as non-editable on the existing rows, regardless of the specified editability settings. |
