Form Design
Introduction¶
Data Entry in CCH® Tagetik requires familiarity with the principles and mechanisms of the Reporting system (see The Reporting System), which is based on specially designed Excel sheets, referred to as forms. Forms can be used in two ways:
- As reports (also called output forms), to view data from the database
- As data entry forms, to input data into the database
Depending on the task, reporting functions can be accessed either via the web interface or directly in Excel.

IMPORTANT: some activities—such as designing and building a form, can only be performed in Excel. Others, such as running a form to browse data, can be done either in Excel or via the web interface, see Web forms.
In CCH® Tagetik, the overall definition of the data managed by a form depends on the configuration of data filters applied at different levels of the form structure (see Form Structure).
| Livello | Descrizione |
|---|---|
| Form | Data managed at the global level of the form (see Form Design) |
| Sheet | Data managed at the template level |
| Matrix | Data managed and displayed within a specific area of the sheet (see Form Matrix) |
| Row/column | Data managed and displayed in the rows/columns of the matrix. |
