SmartInsight

Introduction

SmartInsight is an ad hoc reporting tool that allows information from the CCH Tagetik database to be extracted via a browser. SmartInsight complements the structured reporting of CCH Tagetik and allows reports to be created quickly and intuitively in an interface with Excel-like spreadsheets.

The SmartInsight sheet

Smartinsight looks like an Excel worksheet, with the following specificities:

  • It can contain several matrices. A matrix is a table of rows and columns of values extracted from the application database of CCH Tagetik (see The structure of the matrix). Each matrix can be updated individually.
  • It can read data from different workspace datasets.
  • It can be imported/exported in CSV and XLSX format.
  • It can be saved and shared with other users.

Activation and roles

Only users with specific roles can access the SmartInsight module.

  • Power user or Contributor: users with function 0004078 enabled (see Roles) .
  • Admin: users with function 0004160 enabled. The administrator can manage the Smartinsight sheets of other power users (e.g. no longer active or that have changed roles). In particular, the administrators can delete them or assign them to themselves for editing.

Features not supported

Below are some features not supported by this tool:

  • It is not possible to realise multi-template forms in the same SmartInsight sheet.
  • It is not possible to perform cancel/repeat actions on the matrix with the key combinations CTRL+Z and CTRL+Y.
  • Advanced scripting is not supported; it is not possible, for example, set a parameter based on other parameters using a script.
  • Cut/copy/paste actions can be performed in two ways:
  • with the key combinations CTRL+X / CTRL+C / CTRL+V
  • via the pop-up menu that appears when right-clicking on the matrix. It is not possible to combine the two modes.
  • The update function has the following limitations:
  • Does not update the formulas in the SmartInsight sheet unless they are enabled in the matrix by the user
  • Does not propagate styles

Currency conversion

SmartInsight allows currency conversion on the multidimensional matrix either by entering the currency from the filter panel or from the matrix (seeCurrency conversion). Moreover, unlike forms, with SmartInsight it is possible to enter the currency dimension in a matrix on the rows or columns, even though this same dimension is already present in the filter panel, provided the currency conversion is defined.

Activities log

Saving, deleting, sharing, renaming, opening a SmartInsight or performing a refresh on a matrix are saved in the Application Audit.
