Overrides

Introduction

The Matrix Wizard's Override tab allows you to create, at the matrix level, overrides on the dimensions included in the form by form filters and tab filters. In fact, restrictions defined by form filters and tab filters on certain dimensions can be excluded from the matrix, or elements of dimensions originally excluded by the form filters and tab filters can be included in the matrix (see Structure of the data in the forms and filters).

Note: for the override to include functions, the elements selected in the matrix's override tab must belong to the same hierarchy used to insert the elements overridden in the matrix.

Example

This example describes a form containing a sheet with filters on entities A00, B00 and A01 and two matrices respectively showing:

  • data for a given scenario selected by the user when the form was run
  • data for the previous scenario

To compare the data for one scenario on entities A00, B00 and A01 with data for the previous scenario related to the entities node EU-Europe (parent node of entities A00, B00 and A01), overrides for the tab filters must be applied on the second matrix, so as to define the EU node as a matrix filter for the second matrix. To do this:

  1. In the Matrix Filters tab, in hierarchy X00 - Geographical area, select the filter EU-Europe.
  2. In the Override tab in the Matrix Wizard, select entity hierarchy X00 - Geographical area which contains all the entities grouped geographically.

Note: for the override to take effect, the hierarchy selected in the Overrides tab must be the same as the one in the initial matrix filter.

Overrides on Analytical Information Hub matrices

As regards matrices based on both multidimensional and Line by Line transactional Analytical Information Hub datasets, the override system is simplified. It is not possible to define an override on individual hierarchies of a dimension, but only on the dimension itself.
