Forms on Analytical Workspace data

Introduction

In the Analytical Layer of CCH® Tagetik it is possible to define customised data models called Analytical Workspaces. Every workspace allows the user to add multidimensional data tables, called Datasets, based on an unlimited number of dimensions, measures and custom fields. This allows for a greater calculation capacity and flexibility than the Financial Workspace. For more details on Analytical Workspaces, see Analytical Workspaces.

By selecting a specific dataset, it is possible to define matrices, and therefore forms, related to Analytical Workspaces.

When creating a form, the user can choose whether to manage CCH Tagetik dimensions data from the Financial Workspace, including custom dimensions, or analytical dimensions data from the chosen Analytical Workspace dataset.

The reports and data entry forms containing Analytical Workspace data are created, configured and managed in the same way as those containing Financial Workspace data. Some particular features are described below.

Form logics

Forms can be defined by accessing datasets, in both navigation and data entry modes, with a transactional logic, also called Line by Line logic, or with a multi-dimensional logic.

Element Description
Transactional (line by line) logic The dataset data are in rows only or in columns only. The counter element is placed on the other element, columns or rows, respectively. In the cells, the data shown or entered are filtered according to the filters set at the row or column level.
Multidimensional logic The dataset data are organised into rows and columns. In the cells, the value of the data shown or entered by the user is filtered by the values set in the existing filters on the cell. Therefore, in this case, the matrix filters, tab filters and form filters also have an influence.

Virtual datasets

Line-by-line or multidimensional forms can be defined on the basis of virtual datasets.

A virtual dataset associates one or more physical datasets. In particular, it allows you to select only the desired fields from the original datasets and add formula fields whose operands are the fields of the original datasets.

On the dimensions tree, the formulas are identified with fx.

In reporting, virtual datasets are used in read only mode, and it is not possible to change cell editability nor define conditional editability expressions in matrices based on virtual datasets.

Datasource

It is also possible to define Line by Line forms via a datasource. Datasources are used in read only mode for the sole purpose of reporting. It is not possible to change cell editability nor define conditional editability expressions in matrices based on datasources.

Data Transformation Package Data Processing

For every Analytical Workspace, a Data Transformation node is shown within the data processing tree. When a particular DTP is associated with a form, all the parameters defined for the Analytical Workspace in question are also shown in the data processing configuration and the user can set them (with all the available input modes). The value set in this way will be the value associated with that parameter when the DTP is run. If the Analytical Workspace is deleted, the data processing associated with the form will no longer function.

Note: a node not associated with any DTP is also present in the data processing tree. This node does not show parameters.
