Dashboard reports

Definition

Charts can be designed to visually represent the data included in a report. To do this, dashboard reports can be prepared.

In a dashboard report, each template can correspond to a dashboard and can, in turn, contain several matrices. The ability to generate charts can be enabled for all matrices.

Only users who have function 0003616 - Reporting .NET - Navigation - Edit dashboard" associated with their own role can configure Dashboard reports.

Filters on charts: slicers and shared slicers

The data shown in charts can be filtered both with filters applied to the form and with filters that can be modified by the user at runtime (see Slicer). However, while the filters applied to the module are applied to the whole report, slicer-type filters are applied to the individual chart.

Slicer filters are defined during the definition of the individual chart but the chosen values can be edited later to obtain a better result in the chart. However, editing a slicer does not run a new query on the database. Changes to the slicer therefore have no effect on the selection of data shown in the chart, but only affect the way in which they are displayed.

Slicers can be shared among matrices. If a slicer is applied to a specific dimension, all the matrices that share the slicer must contain the dimension in question.

Example

A dashboard report contains matrix1, matrix2 and matrix3. The Entity dimension is present on all the matrices. To define a shared slicer on the Entity dimension for every matrix, select Link the dimensions in the dashboard configuration window and enable Share on the Entity dimension. Then proceed as follows:

  • For matrix1, select matrix2.
  • For matrix2, select matrix3.
  • For matrix3, select matrix1.

Available page layouts

Charts can distributed within pages according to the following predefined layouts:

  • Full screen
  • Two horizontal panes
  • Two vertical panes
  • Three horizontal panes (type 1 and type 2)
  • Three vertical panes (type 1 and type 2)
  • Four panes

Note: the system tries to optimise the position of charts. For example, if a template contains 5 matrices and a layout with 4 panes for every page has been chosen, the system will create two pages: the first will contain 4 charts and the second will contain the fifth in full-screen mode.

Types of chart

A chart from among those contained in the following macro areas can be defined for every matrix in the report: column and bar, pie, line, combinations, maps.
