Dimensions and dictionaries
In the execution step, the ETL populates a temporary table (“Staging “ Table) by extracting the data from one or several external sources, transforming it with a series of rules and then loading it onto CCH Tagetik or other destinations such as files of custom tables.
In this window, it is possible to set alignment between the following elements, as necessary for the correct execution of an ETL:
- the structure of the data to be extracted and that of the “Staging ” table;
- the structure of the “Staging ” table and that of the target table or file.
The dimensions represent the columns of the “Staging” table (the field names are formed of "CAMPO" + dimension Code). Up to 200 dimensions can be managed.
Note: It is good practice to define the Description and the Acronym so that they clearly identify the content of the dimension.
The definition of the Dimensions and Dictionaries can be accessed from the Dimension and Dictionaries link in the ETL Domains window.
